Announcing the Winner of the Young Thinkers Business Challenge

July 7, 2015, by Mihaela Georgieva in: Business Challenges

The evaluations of the Young Thinkers Business Challenge, sponsored by Thinkers50, are now over and we are happy to announce the winning idea!

The Young Thinkers Business Challenge asked our young community of researchers and professionals about their observations on the current management trends in their respected fields of expertise and their ideas on how these management practices will evolve.

Participants shared insights on various industries, ranging from hospitality and academia to water treatment and public governance. The jury member panel, led by Des Dearlove – executive sponsor of the campaign evaluated all idea submission on five criteria – originality, impact, adoption and relevance, demand, and reference.

So who won? Drums, please!

The winning idea of the Young Thinkers Business Challenge is “Transportation Systems – Trends and Implications” by Anirban Dutta.

Anirban is an Undergraduate student pursuing B.E in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, which is recognized as one of the most prestigious colleges in India. Apart from his studies, his interests lay in physics and computer science, as well as scientific philosophy, sociology, psychology and paradoxes.

Here is a sneak peek into Anirban’s contribution:

“As far as transportatioTransportation Systems - Trends and Implicationsn is concerned, several studies have shown that there has been a huge surge in the volume of goods/freight being transported. And moreover it is anticipated they will increase further. But as research has shown, the infrastructure for freight transport, or for that matter any transport is not increasing at a great pace. So it will inevitably lead to congestions and, and as it might be easily guessed, they will have huge impacts on the economies of the nations. So, the one who solves the problem better, will emerge as a natural winner over the course of time. This calls for some serious consideration and research on this problem.”

Des Dearlove shared that the Thinkers50 jury panel recognized the idea as one that “has the potential to make a difference in the world”. Now Anirban has the chance to be shortlisted for Thinkers50 RADAR Award. Through the RADAR the Thinkers50 are on a constant search for fresh and powerful thought leadership.

Earlier this year, “Improved Freight Transport Management Using Swarm Intelligence” – an idea Anirban is a co-writer to, won the 1st place in the Future of Business at the Worldwide Academic Competition 2015.

Apparently this young thinker is on a roll and we can’t wait to see more of him!
